In 1874, Georges Edouard Piaget opened his first workshop in the family circuit in a small village in Le Jura called La Côtes-aux-Vais[7] for the manufacture of pocket watches and high-precision watch movements demanded of him by famous brands. Piaget's name soon transcended the confines of the Neuchâtel region, and in 1911, Georges-Piaget's son, Timothy Piaget, took over the reins of the family business, and the manufacture devoted its work to wrist watches. [8]

Registered trademarkEdit

In 1943, at the initiative of the founder's grandsons, Gérald and Valentin Piaget, the brand was registered, and since then the Maison has produced its own creations and developed internationally. The great development of the family business led to the opening of a new factory in 1945, always in the village of La Côtes-au-Vé, where it was particularly oriented towards renovation and ultra-thin movements.

Ultra-thin movement (1956-1963)Edit

The manufacture in La Côte-au-Vé in 1957 introduced the 9P calibre and was the first ultra-thin hand-wound mechanical movement (2 mm thick), then in 1960 the 12P calibre was developed by Piaget artisans and was the thinnest self-winding movement in the world with a thickness of 2.3 mm (officially entered in the Book of Numbers
